Jennifer Van Evra is an award-winning Vancouver writer, producer, broadcaster and university instructor.

Jennifer has a lifelong passion for writing and storytelling, and her work has appeared in publications including the Globe and Mail, Condé Nast Traveler, Harvard Business Review, Metropolis, the Vancouver Sun, Vancouver magazine, the Georgia Straight, Mother Jones and many more.

For two decades she has also been a producer, reporter and broadcaster with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), covering everything politics to science, and from music to business both on radio and online. For her work, Jennifer has won multiple awards.

Jennifer designed and continues to teach two highly successful freelance article writing courses at the University of British Columbia, and dozens of her students have gone on to be published in major magazines and newspapers, among them the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the Globe and Mail, the Guardian, the South China Morning Post, Vancouver Magazine, Western Living, Fine Gardening, the Vancouver Sun and more. In 2013, Jennifer was the recipient of UBC’s John K. Friesen Excellence in Teaching Award.

Jennifer has also taught workshops to dozens of groups, from Indigenous leaders to large law firms to major health agencies, and has interviewed, written, edited and produced videos for a range of corporate clients.

An avid photographer, Jennifer has published dozens of photographs in publications including the Globe and Mail, International Architecture and Design, Adbusters, the Vancouver Sun and more.

Jennifer’s areas of interest include business, architecture/design, science, health, real estate, music/arts, culture, politics and current affairs.

She’s also a dog lover (cats too!), a music aficionado, a distance walker and a reluctant renovation expert.
